About Me
Shahab Uddin Sagor is a renowned journalist and writer and businessman, widely recognized as an influential diplomatic reporter in Bangladesh. He was born in the village of Dhemushia in Chakaria Upazila, Cox’s Bazar District, on May 5, 1975. He currently resides permanently in Oceanside, Long Island, New York, USA. Shahab Uddin Sagor’s father was the late Shamsul Alam, and his mother is Sayera Khatun.
Education
Shahab Uddin Sagor began his education at the Ilishia Government Primary School in the West Bara Vyola Union. He completed his secondary education at Ilishia Jamila Begum High School and his college education at Alhaj Mostafizur Rahman College in Lohagara, Chittagong. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Tejgaon College under the National University..
Career in Journalism
He began his journalism career as the news editor of the weekly newspaper Chokoria, Cox's Bazar in Chakaria. Later, he worked with local newspapers like Dainik Saikat, Ajker Desh-Bidesh, and Saptahik Matamuhuri, Daily Azadi and Daily Ajker Kagoj. In 2008, he joined NTV as a staff reporter in Cox's Bazar. In 2010-2015, he began working with Jaijaidin, Arthoniti Protidin, Manobkantha in Dhaka as a Diplomatic correspondent where he was promoted to diplomatic correspondent. In 2015, he moved to the USA and served as a consultant for Time Television and the weekly Bangla Potrika. He also served as a deputy bureau chief of the Prothom alo, North America, Executive Editor of weekly Ajkal and various Newspaper. In 202O he published Weekly Nobojug. Shahab Uddin Sagor is now an Editor at Weekly Nobojug.
Organizational Affiliations
He has been associated with various professional organizations, including the Dhaka Reporters Unity, the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB), and the America-Bangladesh Press Club. He served as a general secretary, America Bangladesh Press Club. He also member of Jackson Heights Bangladeshi Business Association (JBBA) and Election commissioner of Chittagong association of North America. Shahab Uddin Sagor is currently serving as a Field Operative for the US-NYSCTF Chaplain.
International Experience
Shahab Uddin Sagor represented Bangladesh at various sessions of the United Nations General Assembly and covered major international events, including SAARC summits.
Publications and Writing
He authored several research-oriented and journalism-related books, including Chokhe Dekha Chokoria (Witnessed Chokoria) and Asha Nairasher Sanchoy (Collection of Hopes and Despair).
Personal Life
Shahab Uddin Sagor is married to Shamsun Nahar Nimme, a former senior news presenter at NTV, Time Television, TBN24 and she is also Vice President of immigrant home care. They have one child, Saifan Nehan.
